Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book a perfectrental:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Captain's Choice: 5 BR, 5.5 BA House in Atlantic Beach, Sleeps 12 has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a specific New Bern destination you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
