Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:

Finding the best value:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the right New Bern rental home:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cardinal's Landing, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
