Finding the best vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Anticipation, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
