Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Find your best deal:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. To find the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking your New Bern rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. TOP 5% rated, Nautical-themed Beaufort Bungalow near Downtown Beautiful Gardens has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
