How to find the best rental experience:
Get the best value:
- To book the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. TOP 5% rated, Nautical-themed Beaufort Bungalow near Downtown Beautiful Gardens has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
