Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in Atlantic Beach. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental home:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Charming dog-friendly home near beach with central AC & W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a certain New Bern beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
