Our top Beaufort vacation rental tips:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking your New Bern rental home:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Calm Tide -On Ann Street, walking distance to Beaufort waterfront. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual New Bern destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
