Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the best rental home in Beaufort:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Trails End-Home near downtown Beaufort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
