New Bern rental home booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. One Bedroom Carriage House- 131 Craven Street\n300 feet from Beaufort Waterfront has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
