Booking the best Beaufort vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Coastal townhome with outdoor living, central AC, washer\/dryer, & pool access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
