Strategies for getting the best New Bern rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To book the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the best rental in Emerald Isle:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Decks Ahoy, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 9 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
