How to book the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking the rightrental home:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spectacular Views! OCEANFRONT 8 BR, 4 BA Duplex has 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
