Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:
- To get the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental in Emerald Isle:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Dune Alright, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
