Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Emerald Isle Vacation Beach house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
