Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the perfect rental:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Family Beach Vacation\n has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
