Strategies for getting the best Atlantic Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. High Cotton Cottage has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
