How to find the best New Bern vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental home in New Bern:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Historic Downtown New Bern Condo -2 Bedrooms has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
