Tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To get the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick the perfectrental home:
- Start by having your family decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Joyner Cottage has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
