How to book the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Keeper's Retreat, Townhouse in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
