Tips to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightvacation home:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Liquid Sunshine, direct poolside easy beach access has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
