Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- First, have your group select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Liquid Sunshine, direct poolside easy beach access has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
