Strategies to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 3 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
