Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking your New Bern rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Why Knot Getaway…Rooftop with WaterView! Unit F has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
