Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the best New Bern rental:

  • First, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Lovely 3 bed\/2.5 bath ~ 4 minute walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain New Bern beach you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
