Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best vacation rental:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Middle of the Row Duplex, Quiet, and Cozy, 3 bed\/2 bath has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
