Tricks and tips to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the right New Bern rental:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront condo with 3 shared pools, 2 seaside balconies, and sound side dock. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
