Emerald Isle rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Private and Quiet Beach House! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
