New Bern vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick the perfectvacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Emerald Isle Oceanfront Home with Private Pool and Dog-friendly! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
