How to get the best New Bern rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets from our 5BR oceanfront duplex. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
