New Bern vacation rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront House with Private Beach Access, Newly Renovated has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
