How to find the best New Bern rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Book your New Bern rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. OCEANFRONT HALF DUPLEX SLEEPS 9 w 4 BDRMS, 3 ARE OCEANVIEW! BEST PART OF E ISLE! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
