Tips and Tricks to get the very best New Bern rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • To find the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking the perfect New Bern rental home:

  • First, have your group select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. OCEANFRONT 4BR, 2 BA House at the Point! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
