Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer is high season in Atlantic Beach. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanwalk: 3 BR, 3.5 BA Duplex in Atlantic Beach, Sleeps 6 has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If not, contact the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
