Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the right New Bern rental:
- To start, have your family agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Conch Tales fun, lakeside retreat in amenity filled Beau Coast. New rental! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
