How to get the best rental experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect New Bern rental home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Pet and Family Friendly ~ Right on the Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your group.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
