Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the best vacation home in Pine Knoll Shores:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • House in Pine Knoll Shores has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
