Tips and Tricks to get the best Beaufort vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To find the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking yourvacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Secluded waterfront home that is 5 min away from downtown Beaufort has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
