Strategies to get the best New Bern rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Secluded waterfront home that is 5 min away from downtown Beaufort has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
