Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to pick the best vacation rental in Beaufort:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Sea breezes and sun in historic old town Beaufort, a block from the water! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
