New Bern vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Dog-friendly cottage across from the water in a walkable neighborhood has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
