Rental home booking tips:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Shell Cottage DOG Friendly in Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
