Tricks and tips for getting the best Atlantic Beach rental home experience:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Shipwatch Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
