Our top New Bern vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Booking your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Shipwatch Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
