Our top New Bern vacation rental tips:
When to visit & When to book:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best rental in the New Bern area:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront, Dog Friendly, near the Point, beach & kids' gear, fun decor. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
