Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Spacious Family Home with Outdoor Space. One mile to downtown has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you crave, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
