Tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking a perfectrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Wonderful oceanview condo w\/recently updated kitchen & bathrooms! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
