Finding the best New Bern rental experience:
When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing and booking yourrental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Coastal Escape, Oceanfront House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
