Strategies for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking the rightrental:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Fisherman's Dream, Soundfront House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's a specific New Bern destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
