New Bern vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Cozy Beaufort Home with Hot Tub and Boat Driveway has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
