Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:
When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Walk to beaches from 2nd floor 2 bed 2 bath apt has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
