Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Emerald Isle:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Witt's Inn, Soundfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
