Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Witt's Inn, Soundfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.

  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
