How to book the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:
Get the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To get the best rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Affordable Oceanfront w\/ Private Pool! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
