Atlantic Beach just made #16 in the list of Top 100 Beaches in the United States, beating out even beaches in Hawaii! Truly a hidden gem, as this part of the island doesn't have public access, beyond a few cars, so it's just folks staying right there.
My favorite spots here are the broad with outdoor areas, including dining, humongous sectional couches, and fire table to savor as the sun goes down. I adore that I can hear the waves crash from here.

Tricks and tips for getting the best Atlantic Beach rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental:
- First and foremost, have your group choose trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Barefoot Beach: Spectacular Family Beach Retreat! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
