Emerald Isle vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Family cottage located in the heart of Emerald Isle, 3-5 minute walk to beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
